London Public Library

Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario has granted over 600 wishes since its inception in 1986, in the counties of Brant, Bruce, Chatham-Kent, Dufferin, Elgin, Essex, Grey, Haldimand-Norfolk, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Oxford, Perth, Waterloo, and Wellington. Find out more about Make-A-Wish®

Wishes for children could not happen without the support and contributions from individuals in Canada. The magic and joy of granting wishes all begins with a referral to Make-A-Wish. Once the child's medical condition has been verified by their treating physician, and the child qualifies to receive a wish, their request is helped made possible by hundreds of volunteers who work out of eight wish granting chapters across Canada.

Since the inception of the company in 1997, EDPRO has donated to Make-A-Wish® Southwestern Ontario, contributing to the granting of a child’s wish. Since the beginning of 2007, EDPRO has funded a full grant of a child’s wish and will continue with the funding of a complete wish on an annual basis.

The London Public Library (LPL) is a busy, thriving library system with 16 branch locations throughout the city with dedicated staff committed to providing excellent public service and developing meaningful community partnerships. The LPL is passionate about making a difference in the community, one person at a time, by enriching lives and empowering people through relevant, accessible, high quality services.

Literacy involves a continuum of learning to enable individuals to achieve their goals, to reach their potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society. This is particularly important in our complex and changing world. The Library has developed, and continues to develop, programs, services and resources to help break the cycle of low literacy.

EDPRO shares with the LPL the belief that literacy must be approached in a holistic way because it impacts all aspects of people’s lives: health, income, education, relationships, self-esteem and social well-being. In 2008, EDPRO made a five-year commitment to support literacy programming in the London community. With support from EDPRO, library branches across the city will be able to host a new program of regular neighbourhood-based family literacy events.
